Barium effectively reduces the vapor pressure of calcium during steelmaking and increases the solubility of calcium in molten steel. Compared with silicon-calcium alloy, barium effectively protects calcium in molten steel, reduces calcium oxidation, increases the content of calcium in molten steel, and achieves the purpose of calcium treatment of molten steel.
